Thabeet, Grizzlies coach heading to Senegal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Grizzlies center Hasheem Thabeet and his coach Lionel Hollins are taking part in a Basketball without Borders Africa camp in Senegal in August.

The NBA, FIBA and the Senegalese Basketball Federation announced the details Thursday of the camp being held Aug. 5-8 in Dakar. Thabeet, the NBA's first Tanzanian-born player, will be joined by other NBA players and personnel including DeSagana Diop from Senegal, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute from Cameroon and Orlando's Dwight Howard.

They will be working with 60 players 19 and under picked by the NBA, FIBA and other federations.

Thabeet says this opportunity is humbling and he looks forward to sharing his experiences. He was the No. 2 pick overall in 2009.
